Students at any of the colleges & universities listed on this website who are willing to provide feedback pertaining to one or more of the questions below (or any other relevant information) can reach us at info@ccwatch.org. With your permission any useful feedback you offer will be posted for general consumption.
- What does the college state about itself and its goals?
- What are some of the major budget items that funds are being used for?
- What priorities are being expressed in spending?
- Are there trees or wooded areas on campus or is it all “rational-functional”?
- Are there attempts to be creative; architecturally, aesthetically, ecologically innovative?
- How much of its resources does the college devote directly to its faculty?
- What are its educational statements and what are its practices?
- What objectives & goals appear to be most important in its PR materials?
- Is education or all the other stuff (combined) more honored?
- Are there any clear signs of operative faith in running, organizing & planning college affairs?
- What is this college—first and foremost (community of scholars and students…) for?
- Is there an openness to faith in business matters?
- Are there ongoing discussions, in public or private about issues of importance and broad life direction?
- Are there professors who are outspoken—known for their convictions and commitment, or something else?
- How are such people received?
- What place or role does self-interest and self-preservation play on the institutional level?
- What expressions or signs of expectation are there for students to learn to lead--and make decisions for themselves for the college or other external environments?
- Are students invited or allowed or given opportunities to make decisions and carry out responsibilities—develop leadership (of themselves) capacities.
- Are there dubious, or questionable practices going on, e.g. to make things look better than they are, give impressions that don’t match every day reality or practice?
- How & from what sources does the college receive support?
- Paternalism? Nepotism? Favoritism? Corruption? Autocracy? Plutocracy?
- Does the institution take (necessary) risks of faith?
- Does the institution and/or do the people dare to be followers of Christ when (and in ways) it's not being done by others?
- Can people speak openly to each other and to the administration or does fear prevail?
- How do the professors speak? Is skillful language use valued?
- Do they speak well and work at speaking well, clearly and carefully?
- What kind of language do they use?
- Are they careless about how they express themselves?
- Are they careful in their forms of expression, choice of words?
- Do they speak and articulate themselves well?
- What is the language of the students like?
- Is Biblical language ever heard?
- Do people sometimes quote Scripture in public outside of chapel?
- Do people often use clichés in public?
- Are people thoughtful and discerning about the use of popular terms, expressions and trendy talk?
- How do people dress?
- Do some students dare to be different or do all conform to the consensus, main trends?
- How closely do the dressing styles of the college students and professors follow contemporary secular-college fashion trends?
- Is there creativity and originality in dress?
